So I'm a little behind, but I'm still trying! Here is Nick's first day of "real school," otherwise known as first grade. It's taken the whole summer to move his sleep schedule so he'd be up in time, but we did it! Here he is in his trademark all blue ensemble:
So far, he's loving it, even though there are only two kids from his kindergarten class in his new class. But he sees all the others during the two first grade recesses, so I guess he hasn't felt too lonely. He's excited about going to specials this year, which are: Spanish, Art, Music, Science, and two P.E. classes. Spanish and P.E. were the only specials in Kindergarten, so this is quite the upgrade! He's still pretty worn out by the end of the day, but it really is a long day. He's up at about 7:10, out the door for carpool at 7:50, and to school at about 8:20. School starts at 8:30, and lets out at 3:15. By the time we get through the pickup line and get everybody dropped off at their houses, it's usually almost 4:00. It doesn't leave a lot of time for playdates, which is his biggest complaint about first grade. But, baseball is starting soon, so maybe he'll let me use that as a substitute for playdates??
