We got back from San Diego on Friday night, after what might possibly have been the worst car ride ever. Between the traffic and the boys, it was horrible. The boys fooled us into thinking that they were going to be great on the ride down. Evidence: Unfortunately, that scene NEVER repeated itself on the ride home, although Nick repeated the words "Are we there yet?" and "I want out!" frequently....as in every 30 seconds. Have you ever wanted to strangle your own child?? Anyway, I digress. I won't give you the play by play of our week there, but suffice it to say that we went to Old Town, toured the new Mormon Battalion Visitor's Center, spent a day at the zoo, went to the beach, wandered around the town of Julian and ate pie, and went to the Natural History Museum to see the dinosaurs. And we swam A LOT--like every day, sometimes twice a day. We had plans to go to Sea World, but after lugging the boys around the zoo, we decided to save that for another trip. Anyway, on to the pictures! David eating Cheerios at LaJolla:

The Zoo:
Quite possibly my favorite picture from the week--can you tell he wasn't getting his way?
This orangutan stayed by the glass, in front of the kids, the whole time. When they moved, she moved too.
Mission Beach:
The Natural History Museum:
Nick loved all the microscopes at the museum:
Riding the Balboa Park railroad:
Nick kicking back with cookies and milk:
And the grand finale--after the swimming lesson fiasco earlier this summer, I wasn't sure if this would ever happen:
